I Think I Want An HK53 in 300BLK

I already own: HK93, G36K, MR556, MR556 10.4", PTR-32PDW, PTR G3K, HK91 & MR762, and a 7.5" AR-15, few other 16" AR-15s. Reason for listing is that I have already suppressed all types of 5.56/308, but they're still on the loud side. I am thinking an 8" in 300BLK suppressed, will sound awesome, and deciding if I want to add an 8" roller-lock platform to my stable. (I have considered cost-effectiveness of just builidng a 300BLK upper for one of my AR SBRs and going that route- but sometimes cost is not as important.)

Thinking it will run me $3,000-3,500 to have one built. Wish PTR would make one for $900 like I paid for my PTR32-PDW, then just slap a stock on it later. :(

I have seen 1 user who posted his DT 300, but do any of the rest of the group own a HK53 of any make, in 300BLK? If so, how does it shoot? Do you shoot it mostly suppressed? Mostly subsonic? Does it handle well? What suppressors are you using? Would you reccomend one?

Thanks.

Build it, report, and post pics!!!

I will, for sure. Waiting on a lot of stamps to come back for an updated Family Photo ;)
OH, Sorry wrong Caliber. I am bad for not looking closer.
Or you could wait for a 300BLK barrel for the MR556 to come out?

My only concern is if the gas system will be in carbine or pistol.

Only issue with that is I have a 10.4" 556 upper that I already spent $$$ on. And to add, it's the same as my 10.4" but a little quieter, and I'd have to pull the barrel on my 16" MR556, which as of now, is unmolested, aside from AAC 51T flash hider. I am thinking the HK53 sorta fills in between my MP5 clones, and the PTRPDW, but I dont know what to expect comparing an suppressed HK53 clone, in 300Blk, to a PTR32-PDW unsupressed.

But I will keep it on my radar. Any idea what retail will be?
There's a 10.4" in 5.56mm USA barrel selling for $590, so my guess about the same.
I have a DT D300 and just recently got my Omega 30 out of jail. Very limited shooting so far, less than 100 rounds for sure. The 147 grain supersonic Gemtechs cycled the gun on semi-auto with the Omega and on full auto without it. For some reason I didn't try the combination together. The 208 gr sub-sonic Hornadays did not even extract the spent case. I was hoping for better results with the Hornadays. Have some work to do to sort it out. Not in a big hurry...

Disappointing. Was thinking a lightweight 7.62 can, semi-dedicated would be perfect, but not like you can swap LPs and buffer springs like other platforms.
contact ghilliebear, i talked to him about a build for 300, hoping to have rebuilt my funds by fall for him to do mine
Thats who will build it. That part I am not worried about. I am trying to decide if it's a good investment of $3,000+
I'm currently on this road as well. I have a Coharie CA53AR. It's a 53 pattern pistol that is supposed to take AR mags. I had it rebarreled in 300blk and changed the locking piece. At this point subsonic is a no-go, even with my Omega on it. The only ammo I've tested that seems to run it is 147gr PNW, but I've picked up a number of other loadings to test. In talking with Jayson (IGF), it's unlikely it'll run subs, but I'm working on break-in and understanding some feeding issues first. How about a G36C in 300blk? Yes, it's more money, but Tommy says he can get them to work pretty well with subs.
I have a BA300 from Brethren. I love the darn thing. It seems quieter than my AR in 300blk, even with the JPSCS.

I have been shooting it with a Griffin Recce7, but have papers in on an Alpha. Honestly, I can't recall if I have shot it without a can. I think it ran the UMC 220gr subs just fine.

I have a bunch of the S&B 125gr SSTs for supers, but my ultimate goal is to load some subs with palmetto projectiles polymer coated lead.

Probably not. But it's a great way to spend your money if you want it ;)
If it won't cycle subs reliably, that is probably a deal-breaker. Because then I'd have to shoot supersonic 300, so might as well be 308 or 556 at that point, no? I havent heard anyone suppress super and sub 300Blk side-by-side to know. Only 300Blk I have heard was subs, on a Rem 700, so of course that is about the quietest you can get for the caliber.

In talking to Jeff, he said his runs 220 subs just fine, so it sounds like my expectations are reasonable.
I've always felt like 9mm has too many advantages over .300BLK to mess with .300. The gun is lighter, the silencer is lighter, the ammo is cheaper, and it suppresses better.

But also it's a gun, so buy it if you want it. ;)
On mine with 220gr subs it short strokes. Sometimes it has enough umpf to eject a round. Jayson told me we could use a weaker recoil spring, but some of the feeding issues I'm having he said would likely get worse with a weaker spring. In fact, at his suggestion I just got a new German recoil rod/spring assembly to see if it helps in reliability. If I embarked on this project again I would go with something that takes regular HK mags and not this AR mag hack. It's likely contributing to my problems. The appeal going in was that it would be one less kind of mag to stock.
I considered the HK53 but ended up with a SBR AR15 - 9" barrel. 100% reliability with supers & subs. As per BCM instructions I use an H3 buffer for supers and a carbine buffer for subs. Without some similar adjustment on the HK - possibly the LP; this may explain reliability issues. IMHO/YMMV

Yeah, but with my MP5, MP5K & MP5SD, I think I have 9mm SBRs covered ;)

Jeff showed me YouTube videos of his HK53/300s with a sear, and 220 subs running fine. I would just go with HK33/93 mags, since I have a surplus of them already. I haven't heard good things about HK roller locks trying to use AR-pattern mags. Several outfits have offered adapters of various styles, but I wouldnt use them on a gun of this cost. Main concern is 220 subs being reliable

Short of my financial situation suddenly improving, this would be a long-term savings project. I may end up just building a short 300Blk AR upper, and like you said, changing buffers or use adjustable gas blocks.
