I have tried to look around at getting my usp compact 40 converted to a p10 (add spurred hammer) but it does not seem that I can find anyone that will do it. I have tried asking a gunsmith to put a p2000 hammer on the compact but they do not seem to want to touch H&k's in my area. How can I get this done without going through H&K? Thanks for your help. My avatar is a picture of a p10. Sorry I do not know how to put up pictures on this site yet.

Here's mine. I just bought the hammer off of HKparts and then had a local smith do it for me.

Thats a well thought out upgrade! One of the few things Im not happy with
on the USP Compact is that bobbed hammer.

Adding a spurred hammer to the Compact is nothing. Just get a USP V1/2 or a USPC V9/10 (same item) and replace it. The detailed strip instructions will walk you through the procedure or if you do not want to do it yourself, HK will be glad to do it for you. Any smith worthy of the name can do the swap also and if they cannot change out a hammer on a USPC then I would not let a smith with that little skill even clean my weapons. Just make sure you get the proper hammer. There are two types, the old type with the short catch and the new type with the long catch.
I am pretty sure the P2000 hammer is not the same as a USPC hammer so it is a good thing they did not muck with it.

Im thinking of adding the spurred hammer to an AE date coded USP Compact 9mm -
this pistol would need the new type hammer with the long catch?

I just found this out the hard way.

For pistols 2005 and newer you'll need hammer part # 215870, pre-2005 hammer part # 214825. You can use the older hammer in a newer pistol if you swap out the Catch, part # 214773.

In my USP manual, and the one I downloaded form HK-USA's FAQ page, lists the part number as 214825 so thats the part I ordered. It turns out that the manual is wrong and out of date. Thanks HK.
