So I just got a brand new HKVP9. I have not put any rounds through it myself. Upon stripping, cleaning, and lubing the gun...I noticed wear marks under the slide and on top of the square part of the barrel (see pictures). Is this normal for not putting any rounds through it myself? Thanks for your help!!

THey are test fired at the factory, about 18 rounds worth. It's likely due to that.

Looks like it might have been finger ****ed / racked by customers maybe.

Not sure how many times it takes to do thay

The new gun is cycled at the factory to test function and safety of all aspects of the specific firearm, then it's test shot again to test function under live fire, then it's cycled again by gun store to test function and confirm safe condition before being put in the sale case....even if they grabbed one from the back room, you can see under normal circumstances, your new gun has been cycled a good number of times before you ever touch it, so it has to show signs of being cycled...no way around it, now go put 5,000 rounds thru that VP9!
