I just built an HK93 clone on a Vector arms 223 receiver.
I want to say (it is old news) that the Vector receiver is definately out of spec. I would have thought this would have been corrected but I guess not.
With a lot of effort and the right tools it is very doable.
The butt of the receiver is probably in the most need of fitting. I actually worked the receiver and the inside of the stock to get it just right.
Near the trunnion there were some kind of relief slits cut in the receiver which make no sense. When I welded the receiver at the end of the long slots I just welded these slits up with them. They are not noticeable now.
The trunnion area on the receiver was slightly out of round as well but a little convincing in the vice persuaded it to get in the perfect alignment allowing the trunnion to slide in nice and snug.
After grinding and polishing out the welds I have to say I am extremely proud of the end result. I finished it with Brownells Gun-Kote in matte black.
I am excited to get to the range and test her out. My headspace is right in spec with the feeler gauges.
I think the HK in the 223 really follows the lines of the original sturmgewehr.
