I put some MMC's on my usp 45. Two blue rear dots and a green front. They glow nicely and I like the color combo. I haven't shot with them though and I am a little concerned about the front sight height.

The main reason I got these sights is because they are adjustable. I wanted to raise the poi just a bit from where the factory sights hit. But, with these MMC's, the rear sight is maxed on elevation and it is just as high as the enormous front sight. The rear sights go plenty low though, probably low enough to make you hit two feet low at 7 yards.

I will go and shoot the gun tomorrow to try out the sights, but my guess is, the poi will be lower than it was with the factory sights because the rear sight was slightly higher than front sight on the factory sights. I guess I will have to try it to find out but my guess is just that, there won't be much of a difference.

Anyone else had the same experience with the MMC's?

Perhaps MMC ran out of front sights and decided to put on a miscellaneous one? Maybe.

For $170, I expected a little better set up.

I love how sometimes in life you run into someone who has the exact opposite problem you do. I bought a pair of MMC's for the fullsize and put them on my compact and am now concerned that the sight radius will throw me off in the opposite direction as your problem. Like you said there is plenty of adjustment down so I'm not too worried and have yet to shoot it. I just put it next to my uspc357 with stock sights and eyeballed the adjustment, we'll see how it all turns out. As for your issue, shoot it first and bring the little wrench. I don't think you will be dissapointed, MMC's are top notch. Maybe you got the ones for the compact

I'm afraid I am a little confused. How can one speculate on where the dog-gone thing is going to shoot without actually shooting it? Get out and shoot the darned thing before complaining that it won't shoot to POA. Get that cart back behind the horse where it belongs!
I have several sets of the MMC sights and they all have been adjustable enough to get my pistols sighted in with the "pumpkin on a post" sight picture that I like to use and do so with any ammo I have tried, and that includes 180 gr. JHP to 230 ball, match to +P.

Shoot first, speculate on why it won't shoot to POA later, if that is indeed the case.

Yeah, I know I need to go shoot it first, but I was just making some initial observations. I was going to go today but it has snowed 1 foot in 8 hours.

I cant wait to go shoot it though. The blue/green combination is nice and very bright. It appears as though the blue dots are just as bright as the green, and they make my eyes focus on the green front dot.

The mmc design is pretty ingenious with its elevation adjustment. I'll let you know how it shoots.

Well, Christmas Eve night, I went up into the hills to try out the new MMC sights to see if the front sight was too high, and it definitely is. The usp factory sights hit a bit higher than these adjustable mmc's with the windage maxed. The front sight is simply too high.

The day after Christmas I am going to send back my slide to MMC and tell them to fix it.

If I was to make adjustable sights, I would start with the geometry of the factory sights, then calibrate the elevation range so the user could either increase or decrease the poi; in other words the factory setting of the firxed sights should be right in the middle of the adjustable range of the adjustable sights.

Surely MMC made a mistake when they put on this front sight. I knew it when I first got the slide back from MMC. The Pics below tell the story.

I put the elite45 at the bottom; because, it is so awesome.

I had this same problem with MMC a few months ago. I ordered a set of MMC adjustables for my USPc. They came with a MMC rear and a PT-H3 front. I called and said I wanted the MMC front. When it arrived I measured both.

PT-H3 0.3 in. tall

I hate it when companies do that crap.

Well that sucks. But the good news is MMC will make it right and do it quickly if they are like they were a few years back when I had a dot go dead after only a couple years.

Venkman, That is exactly what the front sight says, Pt-h3. And those heights sound about right. That is horse crap. So many gun companies and suppliers are turing out crap to meet increased demand these days. Did they think I wouldn't notice?

The metal and machining to make these sights probably cost $15, yet they charge $170. Granted, they are making a specialized product which allows them to charge higher prices, but trying to cut costs a little bit more because they didn't want to make a new "proper" front sight, is horse crap.

Thankfully HK doesn't follow the same philosophy; manufacture crap to make a quick buck. Hk makes nice stuff, all the time.

I bought a sig 1911 that was garbage. They wanted to make a quick buck on that one.

I am going to send back my slide and demand the proper front sight.

Venkman, did you send back your slide so they could do it right?

Here's how events unfolded.

I ordered the sights to install myself.
The instructions said that the front sight had small set screws to be tightened with the small allen wrench; but, the front sight wasn't even drilled for set screws. I then noticed that the front was stamped PT-H3.

Evidently after PT and MMC merged they decided to replace the MMC front with the PT front. I didn't want any surprises so I called and they said they had one MMC front left and sent it out to me. There is a significant height difference. The set screws on the front are useless but the height is as intended for the MMC rear.

I know you're cranked over this now, as you should be. But when you talk to them tomorrow remain calm and courteous, lay out the facts, and I think MMC will take care of you.

yes I will remain calm. My posts may make me sound like a big jerk, but I'm not really that mad, just frustrated.

I am pretty sure they will fix the problem.

I put MMC on my USP and they are the aces. I reload so I need adjustable sights. I like the sight pic and the solid feel to the sight.

No, I just sent them my slide with a letter explaining my situation on the day after X-mas. I will let you know when I get my slide though.
