The question now is to SBR/Form 1 or pin/weld a long flash hider.
Honestly, why buy a 12" 308, just to put a 4" hider on it? Might as well have bought a 16" gun. The only time I had pinned on a long flash hider is when I had a G36K built from a kit, and WA didnt allow SBRs. Soon as Form 1 was approved, that thing came right off.

I vote to SBR it.

Kinda what I was thinking.

I have not done a Form 1 so it is a bit daunting.

I like that new pistol cap, instead of the one like I got.

Also, at only .004" out of spec, the gap will shrink as you shoot it. You COULD order the next size down of rollers and be right at .020" which is the "MAX" from HK. I would shoot 250rds through it, and check it again.

I decided to forego the Form 1 for now and have a flash hider perm installed. I can take it off later if I so desire.

The "G28"version from MFI was the only one I could find in the right thread pattern and in steel. There are aluminum ones out there.

NEW 4.75" Long Lug MFI HK G28 DMR Style Muzzle Brake / Flash Enhancer for any weapon with 5/8 X 24 threaded barrel. For AR10, Ruger SR762, 300 Black Out, PTR91 A3R + many more.

Yeah, I am considering putting a suppressor on mine. Contemplating a Dead Air Armament Sandman-S. I have the L pending now, but it's a lot bigger than I anticipated, so it might be dedicated to my Rem 700. My PTR32-PDW has a Saker mount on it, as of today. I *SHOULD* get my K3P back in the next week or two.

Removed the PTR flash hider with the screwdriver method. Came off easier than I expected.

The new MFI flash hider has plenty of threads to cover the entire threaded part of the barrel - the old one actually left a small gap. Barrel length with new FH is right at 16-1/2".

Now off to the smith to get it "attached".
