KAC Knights Armament MK23 Suppressor Group Buy????......

There was a post somewhere on this site where someone talked to KAC at Shot Show and it was confirmed that after KAC finished supplying dealers with existing pre-paid orders for the MK23 can they were going to re-engineer a more efficient MK23 can for release in the future. I hope so, as the KAC and B&T cans are louder than most of the competition.
Anyone else remember this? IDK, could have been a fever dream of mine...
Re-engineer a more efficient Mk23 can? Not doubting the thread, but that’s a real, “there must be a pony around here” belief if I’ve ever seen it.

Not sure what you mean by that. I and two others read here or heard from KAC that they were going towards a more efficient baffle system can for the MK23/USPT.
It comes from the old joke about the optimist, as a kid on Christmas morning who opens a present under the tree that’s a box full of manure. The kid is yelling in joy, “I got a box of manure, so there must be a pony around here somewhere!”

ok, ok, ok, I hear what you guys are saying about KAC "innovating" and "welding is expensive" but - hear me out on this - what if we ask really really nicely AND (this is the key part) also tell them we have like 40-60 people who really really really really really really want these suppressors and love KAC. Like really LOVE KAC. Do you think they will do it then?
First off, even when KAC did the prior group buys, their MINIMUM quantity was 50. The group buy couldn’t put together 50 MP5/10/40 cans, so KAC refused that item, even though there are a lot of parts similarities between that can and the 9mm can.

Secondarily, KAC’s sales/ordering/processing functions in the past were beyond incompetent. There were so many screwups, I lost tract of how disorganized and inefficient they were. Oh, and this order I made, I worked it out with Trey Knight directly. Even with an order that had his personal approval, his people completely hosed the process. On top of that, when everything was worked out, I nicely offered to send Trey a summary of everything I encountered with that order. He declined, said he knew where the problems were. WTF? Someone offers to take the time to provide constructive feedback, and you blow them off. I think I know where the problem originates.

Those MSRP days are over. Now market forces of supply and demand are at work. I bought my Mark23 and USP Tactical 45 Knights suppressors at a little under MSRP. But that was 18 years ago or so. They were still in production back then. I bought my KAC CT suppressor for 25% more. A real sacrifice back then, but given the short supply and high demand, now it was a bargain. Could be if you find one for sale, it’s probably worth it assuming the trend continues. Keep it long enough and you’ll forget the pain at purchase.
Yeah, it’s like saying I’d like to pay about the same price I did for the new 2017 Camry XSE I purchased for a little over $17k and zero % five-year financing.

Do you believe that the KAC Mark23 can is at all efficient? Or for that matter the B&T can> No wonder the B&T is sold so cheaply...
Efficient? I’ll try to make this brief. The suppressor market is driven by, latest and greatest, newer and better than last year‘s model. The suppressor market dies without constant upgrade. It’s like a flat screen TV. A new model every year, “better” than the year before. Five years old, OMG, that’s such a dinosaur of a suppressor. Turned out one of the most popular suppressor boards was moderated by someone on the payroll of one of the major suppressor manufacturers. I really don’t have tremendous respect for the “industry” in general. Most suppressors are losers monetarily after a couple years because there is a latest and greatest version that’s come out. In other words, be happy with your purchase, you have the tax stamp to pay for. With KAC, it’s a whole different ballgame. Buy a KAC suppressor…is it “state of the art” or “latest and greatest”? No. Can you tell from shooting it? Side by side, it might sound different than another suppressor, but does the other suppressor sound more “efficient”? Hard to say, it’s all opinion. What I can tell you, if you ever sell your KAC, you have a much smaller chance of losing money than with ANY other suppressor.

This is spot on. Short of original Maxim silencers, maybe some of the Mickey Finn stuff, Vietnam War, World War 2 silencers, and the KAC silencers, everything else is basically disposable and purely a commoditized item. They will not appreciate in value. Collecting and actual use are different things.
Yeah, I didn’t want to get into the Mickey Finn suppressors or other esoteric examples. There are a number of exceptions to what I just posted, but those are exceptions rather than the norm.
