the USP barrel is rated for a service life of 20,000 rounds of +P ammunition, whereas the Mark23 is rated for 30,000 rounds. +P is much harder on the barrel than standard ammo.
That said, member 50ae here, has put over 100,000 rounds of regular ammo down his USP45 fullsize, and the barrel still looks quite new!
I have not ever heard of someone having to replace a barrel due to it being shot out! (except torture tests)
I would not worry about you shooting out your barrel in your lifetime, unless your putting 50,000 rounds through it a year
