Hk, and most production pistols, don't usually need much break in. And if they do, you want full pressure loads, or you can cause failures with Light stuff.
Get some wincheast or Blazer ammo, 165 for warm stuff, or 180's if you want the softer stuff.

Double Tap 135gr lightest quality I know of.

Edit - didn't catch the new shooter. I'd use Federal instead of DT for someone new (if you think they may be recoil/noise sensitive)

On a side note I've had good luck with new shooters doing well with heavy & fast ammo.

After re-reading this after some decent sleep, I just realized your breaking in a new shooter, not a pistol.

I agree, 135's are usually the softest recoil, especially some of federals Hydra Shocks, PD40HS4H . They are marketed as low recoil ammo.
