Was thinking about going with the wide forearm for my PTR 91. I wanted to stay with the OD green.

Did a google search and found a few ones but there is a huge difference in prices.

Anyone know where I can get one and whats a fair price to pay?

Found this one in stock

Heckler And Koch G3 / HK91 OD Green Wide Handguard

RTG Parts has this one but out of stock

HK G3 Green Wide Handgaurd New, HK91, PTR91, HKK-2015, RTG Parts

Has anyone ordered from these companies? It looks like the one from RTG says it shows alot of wear, the other from MGW says just discoloration; Im guessing from storage

The MGW is an actual HK made part and a good price for it. The RTG one is made by POF (Pakistani Ordnance Factory) which is the State factory that still makes G3 rifles and parts for the Pakistani military. The wear RTG mentions was from shipping as the forearms were all new and they simply held the dinged up ones for last. The people who ordered one sooner (like I did) got a forearm that looked new. Mine was perfect and to anyone other than an HK guru, looks the same as the HK made part.

The RTG POF forearm I got was a close (but not exact) match to the olive drab HK furniture and really stood out from the rest of the brighter forest green variety mine and many others PTRs came with. I picked up a set of the OD furniture for $20 to at least get close. After all we can't save the world if we aren't color coordinated. LOL

I did drill some ventilation holes on the bottom and along both sides of my wide forearm and have pretty much zero heat build up issues now.

When you said you drilled the handguard.... Im guessing closer to the muzzle end? Was the heat reduction dramatic?

I basically did it like the Nambian style except I used holes instead of slots. Unlike the slimline plastic forearms that get HOT!! after a bit of rapid fire (40rds), the wide forearm didn't get hot per se but you could still feel a bit of warmth. So I figured why not and drilled some holes. Now I can feel the heat escaping from the forearm and it barely warms up when shooting. The wood forearms don't have the heat issue the slim plastic ones do but still warm up more then the wide one does.
