Yesterday I received my HK94 that I sent off to Michael's Machines for an MP5 conversion. It was in pretty rough shape when I shipped it to Mike, due to the fact that this was a DOC HK94 that had seen some abuse over the years. Surface rust where the finish was worn off down to bare metal, various scrapes and gouges on the receiver, and of course the infamous electro-penciled rack number engravings.

The pictures really don't do the gun justice (and i'm no photographer), but Mike did a phenomenal job. It went from an old beat up HK94 to an MP5 that looks factory fresh. I also had Mike refinish my old A3 stock and install a genuine German MP5 barrel to complete the package. I couldn't be happier with the quality of work and Mikes attention to detail. The finished product is even better than I imagined.

Edit:

Here's a quick video of me testing it out for the first time.

looks great.... I picked up one of the early DOC guns back in the day. Mine didn't have the engraved number on it, and looks clean over all. this has been one of those projects that perpetually gets put aside, while I pursue other projects.....

I'm curious, what barrel work did you go with? did you have the 94 barrel chopped and finished, or did you have a new barrel installed. I'm seriously looking at the RCM CHF'd Navy barrel HKParts has, rather than having my barrel chopped?

How long was the turn-around time?
A little less than 3 months after my stamp was approved

That thing looks amazing. How much you want for it?
I'll never part with this one :D

the holy grail!
Absolutely! It fills a void I've had in my German host gun collection for a while now - feels great to have one just the way I wanted.

I ended up finding a nice condition barrel that came off a de-milled MP5. I wanted to keep it as authentic as possible. RCM makes a quality barrel and so does MM, but I wanted this beauty to be all German.

That is absolutely gorgeous!!!
The rear drum sight must have been changed out some time before you got it.

Tony
Yup! The previous owner changed out the old castle sight with a proper MP5 rear sight drum. One less thing that needed to be done!
