What's the diffrence between the HK OEM ones and the aftermarket ones? O ring or no O ring?

What's the best one out there?

Aparrently TROS makes some very good thread protectors. I think they're O-ringed, but i forget...

I think the factory ones do not have an O-ring groove, but i think you can still put one in at the base of the thread protector and have it work.

the TROS doesnt have an o-ring. ive got one on my tac, its great.

if you roll an o-ring over the threads and back it up against the shoulder, the TP will press into it and keep it from coming off. you dont need any fancy schmancy high temperature o-rings. take out your barrel, go to the hardware store, and buy a pack of 5 for $1.

None of the factory, HK TP's have O-rings, and it is my understanding that HK redesigned the newer TP's (enlarged apertures?).

Capital City Firearms (out of business or soon to be) made really nice TP's with O-rings.

Personally, I would purchase a factory, HK TP (SEE MLSECPRO on this site).
