Hope you guys appreciate this because it is taking a bit to put this together for you. But i have been hearing a bunch of people complain about the HK45 sights, and i for one really like them. These pictures are a comparison between the HK45 and my compact tactical again, with the Novak nights sights which are the best I have seen for night sights...

O.K. the first pic is just my HK45, looks good. the second shows how the sights can really stand out even in a low lighting situation, also this pic displays that really hard to describe but almost perfect contours of the new HK45 grip... see how it gets wider at the palm of your hand? makes for a really comfortable and secure feeling when holding it. But those sights just POP. the next few pictures show the difference between them and my USP CT's... In the all dark pic, the HK45 is the one on the left. Now I know that you will all say, but you have to charge them and after a while they will go out, and to a great extent they do, but this is how it looks pulling it out of my desk drawer and shining my streamlight on it for about 5 sec. It also pics up daylight realy well and the lights always seem to glow even in the day, that is what I like so much about them, they are so much easier to see during the day than regular sights are. Again, hard to describe, but they always stand out. And last night i pulled it out of the desk and with all of the lights out and it sitting in a dark space for several hours, the sights were still just as easy to pick out in total darkness as the USP CT is. I think that is mainly due to the fact that the dots on the HK45 are easily twice as big as the tritium dots in regular night sights, so even when they are fainter than tritium, you can still pick them out easily, but if you have just a little bit of light around before stepping into a dark room, wow, they are fantastic...

Just doing my part to further the awarness of HK45 madness... =)

Good job bro. I don't know why some are complaining about free night sights. These are much better than plain white dots and I'm that in the near future those that want will be able to get the TruDots, Trijicons ect.
Thinking about it thou. There has been a price increase so maybe they're not exactly free....Hmmmm

On a side note and from a collectors perspective; hopefully my HK45 being one of the first 500 ever made, is more accurate than my 3 P7M8's being of the last 500 ever made... =)

Havn't had a chance to shoot it yet. I only have USP CT's, a regulary 45 compact, and then a USP Tactical Fullsize, so I don't really have a regular USP 45 Fullsize to compare it too, but I figure it should be just as good. As much as I like this one, I just bought it because I wanted the 10 round magazines, and as an addition to my collection... I seriously want the HK45 compact, and intend on buying 2 each of the Tactical models when they come out... I understand that the Compacts are still supposed to be in before Christmas, so I am like a kid waiting for Santa to show up for that one. =)

My understanding is that the HK45's were in the States over a week ago, the only delay was getting the printing company to print up the manuals and get them shipped, so since the manuals are the same for the entire HK45 line, I hope that the compacts get shipped out really quick.

My test shot round is dated Oct. 15th. I don't know if it was fired in Germany or here in Trussville. If it was done in Germany then they actually got here quick and out pretty quick. My serial number is in the low 300's. I almost baught the 30 but I'm like you. I'm hoping for the compact before Xmas.

The first sentence is my biggest complaint about the sights. They are not night sights, never will be. They require an external energy source to glow and once that energy source is gone the sights will begin to dim and over time (hours, minutes.. depending on the quantity and quality of the material) will go dark. Keep your gun in a safe and you when that bump in the night comes your sights will be dark and require charging (unless you have a lamp in your safe or something). That means that you will have to expose yourself by shining a light onto your gun to charge the sights while the bump knows your position. Also, if youre like me and carry around your home without a covering garment on, your rear sights will charge from the ambient light in the house while your fronts will not. Draw your gun and the rears will be brighter than the fronts.

I agree though that they are better than the standard white dots found on other guns. People just need to understand what they have and act accordingly.

Zat,
I get your point. They are sights that when properly charged can be used at night.
When going after things that go bump in the night white light is were it's at or you might have a problem with some outcomes. Really though, I do see what you mean and there are times that they will not be there when you need them. That is just Murphy's Law.
