MR-series got chrome lined barrels
This slipped under my radar, until one ARFCOM user brought this up:
Heckler & Koch :: Product Overview | MR223A3 - 16.5"
Apparently MR223A3 got "hard chrome plated barrel". Then I looked deeper and it looks like MR308A3 has chrome plated barrels as well. Same for HK 243. Personally I would prefer nitrided barrels, but one can not get everything. Looks like biggest "fault" of MR-series goes away. Now time for you guys to push HK USA to bring MR556 and MR762 up to "A3" standard.

Pistol barrels yes. MR-series barrels were "untreated". MR556/762 barrels still are (unless HK Gmbh changed that and HK USA did not get the memo or something).
Yup in Canada we get the 14.5 barrel too.
That's pretty cool. I couldn't wait so I got the unlined. Who knows if we will ever get the upgrades in the states. Great rifles regardless.

I prefer the chrome when done by Tier 1 companies such as HK or FN.. Saves so much time in cleaning and will take a lifetime to shoot out a bbl..
now we will wait and see if we get them in the States?
