Hi all,

First thanks to everyone, though my first thread, I have been reading posts on here before we purchased our 556 last year and keep coming back to the forum for more. It is becoming apparent that a cheek rest & potentially new stock may be in order for my wife's rifle. Suggestions? If this info already exists please point me to the right thread and sorry for the double post.

Is the weapon in question the one you posted a picture of in another thread?

If so, you may want to read the owners manual on the optic attached to the rifle. There is simply no way to allow for proper eye relief with the optic so far forward.

A few things that may help:

1.) The mount for the optic is on backwards. The base of the mount should be reward of the rings.

2.) Once item #1 is corrected, mount the optic over the upper receiver rail, rather then the handguard rail. Follow the owners manual instructions for the optic as to proper eye relief distance and adjust the exact placement of the optic accordingly.

It should look something more like this:

Post back here and let us know how that turns out.
