After about 4+ years of thinking about it, finally got it together and ordered a barrel tool
and removed the bbl from my MR556 upper. The upper needed a little heat, reinstall much
easier than removal.

After weighing all the options, went for barrel fluting, and chose ADCO, as I have had
great experiences in the past with Steve. Also many years ago, I had an AI AWM with a
fluted barrel and always liked it This thing was barely gone a week and it was back,
and they did a very nice job, and even managed to save the serial # and the caliber info!

Excited to see how is shoots, the haircut took off just a hair over 7.3 oz if I am doing my maths
right, the bbl now weighs 41oz.

I have been kicking the idea of fluting one of my spare barrels for a long time. Thank you for posting your pics, I am now sold on the idea. that is a very nice looking rifle.

I've been on and off the wall to have mine reprofiled to .720 and dimpled along with a 14.5' chop by Marvin to lose some weight - any feedback on fluting vs me doing this ? My range for use will be 300 yards and under.

Do you have any information or even did testing on how this affects barrel harmonics and accuracy?
with any luck, I'll get to the range next week and report. the upper is unfired, however I did have another upper and a complete
MR556 at one time, so I have a vague baseline to compare. Thanks for all the compliments gents :)

Any chance you can share the pictures again. They aren't showing up. Would like to see the work. Thanks
