Then order them with it. I think most will use a scope on it. No sense making everyone pay for sights that most won't use. I don't see this as a difficult concept to grasp. As I said in the other thread about it, how many MR556 owners didn't like the sights included, or the lack of the sight adjustment tool? Including those could have easily made an expensive gun even more expensive. Maybe they should offer two sku's one with and one without sights to please the masses.

Actually HK does not sell MR308 and MR223 with sights. MR556 seem to be only one that gets sights bundled.

Maybe they realized that people would be rather silly to utilize such a nice, accurate .308 rifle without a good medium range optic. . . none of which fit well over the rear diopter site base, so they'd just be wasting peoples time and money by including such a thing. Most people will find the buis flip downs of their choice or just go without on a bench.

I won't own a rifle without BUIS, a scope can be broken in the field and I can use irons at quite a distance

Probably poor folks at HK thought that MR308/762 is a sporting rifle for civilian market. They still do not get it, that it is battle rifle for field use ;)

In Germany a MR223/308 costs circa 2,900,- Euro "naked". The same dealers offers the cheapest HK iron sights (non flip front sight and rear drum together) for 300.- Euro.
One ten round magazine for 100.- (223) or 70.- (308). Now add a scope and/or a red dot optic, a bi-pod, a compensator.

Come on guys, a competitive shooter who choose to buy a HK MR is well-heeled...

idk, imo the ORC style rifles make since.. cause most are going to put a scope on it (or atleast optics). now, i do get the point of BUIS, but I have an eotech and carry 4 spare aa's. if SHTF i am sure i got plenty of battery life in them and im sure i could "find" irons by that time.

I don't think that sights will be the issue, what about available magazines! The mr762 is supposed to be delivered with 10 round mags correct? There are hardly no 20 round mags available. I'll bet it will take 6 months to populate an inventory. There are 2 dealers that I can find, one selling them for 100.00 and the other 150.00 per mag. Can you imagine you're gonna pay near 4000 bucks and be limited to just a 10 rnd mag?

"Can you imagine you're gonna pay near 4000 bucks and be limited to just a 10 rnd mag?"

I just paid $4285 plus tax ($4651) for my "naked" 762.

It seems that HK, when you break it down, is not that interested in catering to the civilian market. The BIG bucks are with the military, the police and the militarized police. As America enters into a potentially "Fascist" state, (average of 220 SWAT raids in America on a daily basis, that's over 80,000 a year) it will be necessary for TPTB to have at their command, a well armed force, with optimum armament, to keep the masses "in line".

I also agree with Blitzkrieg "I won't own a rifle without BUIS, a scope can be broken in the field and I can use irons at quite a distance"

These rifles, both MR556/MR762, should come with iron sights (and 2 -20rd mags.) HK seems to be trying to be Politically Correct with the single, 10rd mag policy. The questions I have is "What kind of a deal does HK give to the Military?" and Since Americans are payrolling the military, why shouldn't the civilians get the best deals and be able to buy any weapon the military seems to have exclusive ownership of?

I don't think anyone should sell a rifle that isn't ready to shoot, so it should have sights. It just seems fundamentally wrong. As it comes, it's good for about 20 feet to point and shoot and closer, or as a $3500 club. There are still plenty of serious shooters out there that I know that like iron sights, and the HK iron sights offer a good, crisp sight picture. These are Battle Rifles, and battle rifles traditionally come ready for use. Can you imagine FN selling FAL's or FNC's without sights, or the HK91/93. Manufacturers can do what they want if it sells, be we don't have to like it.

Just sharing an opinion. The rifle I am bidding on does not have sights, as you know, but I wish it did. Not sure exactly what you're implying, fatmat. I still maintain that a battle rifle should come with sights. I'm not talking about bolt-actions indended for long-range shooting only, but I should have specified. Sorry if you disagree, starsnuffer, but no reason to condescend and insult. For the record, I THINK HK has produced some of the finest, most well-designed and manufactured equipment on the market. I have been using HK on the job for many years… and they should all come with sights.
