I recently picked up a near new in box HK USP 9mm from a local seller this week. I just got back from the range today.

I put 175 rounds of Remington UMC ammunition thru her today with not so much as a hiccup. I've only been shooting for about 6 months and this is my 1st HK. I rented a USP during a few range outings and really liked the fit in the hand. So when this USP popped up for $600 with 4 hk factory mags, I just couldn't pass it up. Thus far, bone stock. I've got a GG&G rail adapter coming for my M3 light. And i plan on getting night sights for it.

My only gripe is the stiff slide release. I have a hard time pressing it with my finger. Although, my reloads are done doing the "slingshot" method. Hopefully it'll get alittle easier with time.

i'm also considering a safariland 6285 holster and attending a Tactical Response class in the spring.

on to the porn! :D

Congrats on your first HK! Sounds like you got a great deal. My first was also the USP 9mm and the HK addiction only gets worse :).

Yes it will get easier to use. Just keep shooting and it should eventually loosen up a bit.

just wait until you have put several thousand rounds down it without jams or failures and you are no longer impressed because its just what you expect.

Congrats, the USP is simply an amazing weapon platform. The P2000, P30 and HK45 are the new kids on the block, but I still believe the USP is the most beautiful most over engineered commercially produced handgun today.

You will love it once it is broken in. HK's are the best guns, hands down.

You typed finger but I assume you are actually using your thumb, right?

That is one plus for the ambi slide release on the P30. You can drop the slide with your thumb or the index finger (which is more natural for me).

i forgot to mention, i'm a lefty :750:

so i hit the slide release with my left trigger finger. when i get some more funds, i'm gonna have a gunsmith convert her to a variant 2

i really like the stock trigger in SA on the USP. yes its a tad heavy, but very uniform in its travel and breaks clean. not to start a hate glock thread, but i had a g17 for awhile but sold it recently. it just never felt comfortable in my hand and the trigger wasn't as good as the USP

Lefty

So am I with an over 10 yr old USPC .45 and was converted by HK to Lefty with full hammer and safety/decock (not available at that time and still have the original RT hand parts from HK). The slide release cannot be changed to ambi or send me the news.

Welcome to the forum. These are some great guys (and gals) who really know their stuff. You're gonna love it here.

My CCW instructor got me to use my entire weak side hand (not sling shotting w/ thumb & index finger) to release the slide by pulling the it to the rear. It compresses the return spring a little more, giving you a stronger feed. He also had me use my weak side hand to unload the chamber. Doing it that way, the round ejects directly into the palm of my hand.

Sorry I forgot to mention this on my earlier post...

Those are great pics, and I know that you're proud of that gun and what you can make it do but I was advised by my CCW instructor (who is a municipal police sergeant) to leave the shot targets at the range.

Reason? If you get into a shooting, the first thing that will happen after your gun is seized and you're "taken downtown", is your home will be searched (they won't even need a warrant if the shooting occurs in your home cause it's a crime scene) for any and all gun related items. These will also be collected and possibly used as evidence against you in any criminal and/or civil actions.
