My love affair with the USP

How did I come to fall in love with my USP9mm? It didn't start this way, I was all about the compact first month of owning both I thought the USP (though very well engineered) was the ugly brute older brother. Nothing super exciting about it, but then something happened... I started shooting my USP full size at the range more than I did my USP compact. Next thing I know, I'm head over heels for this gun. Not to say that I don't like my USPc anymore but I don't think even I the kid that can't hold onto a HK45c for a month can let this gun go. Maybe it's my unhealthy obsession with battle full size guns, maybe it's the longer sight radius, maybe it's the 18+1 capacity... whatever it is I just need to share my love for my USP9f and I hope I'm not alone.

Got 3 USP's and gonna get more stuff, obviously.
Just did a 3 day Intensive Handgun Skills course in Rochester, NY, and shot the USP 9 full size, of course. I was the only HK guy there, with one Sig, one Kimber, one Walther, a couple of Springfield XD's, and the rest Glocks, which is recommended highly by the instructional staff. The 3 cops all shot Glocks and I was right there with 'em in most all of the drills. Anybody who has taken them both apart side by side knows there is a difference, but they all can do what they want. I'll just tighten up my drills a bit and the next time we all get together, HK will rule!
Compacts are a bit too small for my hand so I stick with full size mostly. Except that FDE 45c group buy. That makes the list for sure. And I will own more guns of course, but my carry is a USP 40 full size as that is what I have many thousands of rounds through. I'll stick with that until the last zombie bites out my neck 'cause I'm out of ammo on all 3 USP's.
Well, my first love was a HK45. As soon as i laid eyes on her she had all the curves in the right places and looked stunning dressed in all black. I knew i had to take her home. Then shortly after that i met this little cutie named SK .40, and had a affair.
I started carrying her everywhere i went. Then she introduced me to her older and more experienced fullsized friend named USPT 45.
Lets just say my love affair and has grown. I can't tell you which one i love more cause they are all special in their own way!!
You're not alone, brother. I have an unconditional love for my full-size USP9, as well...can't get enough of it. It's always with me at the range, plus whatever else I feel like I want to shoot. Sometimes, I don't even make it to the "whatever else" guns, 'cause I've spent so much time with the USP9, to the point that I'm satisfied with my range outing.

I'm probably gonna' add another full size 9mm to the USP collection...eventually, anyway. And I hope that it ends up being the P8 model. But for now, my USP9 is still my go-to gun, and I know that it'll remain that way for quite a while.
I hear you, I recently bought my first USP 45 and I feel like I've found the one. In fact I'm living in fear that HK might discontinue the USP line so I'm tempted to pick up a second to keep in mint condition while I use this one for my duty/carry/range gun exclusively (except for my little Kahr CW9 when it's t-shirt weather.
My affection for the full sized USP 9MM was sort of accidental. I bought one used for a decent price and upon firing it at the range I was very pleased with everything about it. Double action trigger is a tad lighter than my full sized HK45, and recoil is gentle with the recoil buffer setup in the USP. The USP grip is a little rougher than the HK45 grip, and it rubs the skin a tad more in concealed carry, but that isn't a show stopper for me.

Because I "cut my teeth" on the 1911 platform, the cocked and locked mode in the HKs is a good and natural evolutionary fit for me. The HK safety lever offers much more versatility than the old 1911 setup. I think John Browning would have approved.

So, mark me as a big USP fan!
Gotta agree with you on the USP line. At first I wasn't too impressed with looks wise and then handling one and looking at pics of others on here I was hooked. Very happy with my USPc .45. Wouldmt trade it for anything!
Full size USP's all the way for me. I don't know what it is about the USPc but it just doesn't do anything for me. I had a SS USPc 40 and got rid of it about 2 months after I got it. I prefer the full grip and the extended hammer on the full size. I guess I'm just a full size pistol type of guy.
Dude, if you love the USP9 then stay the hell away from the USP9 Expert!!!! You've been warned.

Love my USP9 combat competition, and more to come soon!
While I am on the HK45 cool aid at the moment. I will always love my USP 45. There is really no gun like it. It fits me, and is just right. I love it. I even liked it when I was using it for my CCW. Yes, a full size USP 45. It just runs, shoots well, and never complains. I haven't had it quit on me yet.

I think I need another one.........in tan or OD.

Ha. DOn't worry, I have "Glock money" at the moment, not "HK money". Lol. So I won't be getting the USP9 Expert or SD

I have bigger hands, really just long fingers I wonder if I'd like the grip on the USP.45
I love mine like family

I love my pistols like my family. Each has has it's own personality and certain quarks. my VP70 is my oldest and like a adult kid that lives in the basement doesn't come out much. My P7M8 is my teenager; it do what I ask but starts to complain after doing to much work. (FYI, the P7 gas system causes the bottom to get too hot to shoot after a lot of shooting) My MK 23 is like a twelve year old a little to heavy to carry around all day but loves to play and rough house. My USP 45C is my first grade Texas Princess daughter, she is a joy to carry, she is elegant and like a Texan she hates bad guys. My HK45 is my wife; she has curves in all the right places, is a pleasure to hold and I sleep with her every night I am home.
I'm right there with you I have a USPf in .45. So I bought a compact to carry. But I must admit my full size goes everywhere with me 12+1 230gr hydra shocks are a great companion.

Dude, you need a new hobby. That was downright freaky.
My dream gun= USP Compact OD Green

I'll find one some day.
Three USPs here: USP45 Custom Combat; USPc 40; USPT 40. The USP45 is my favorite of the three. Smooth, more reliale than gavity, and FDE to boot :D
