My new to me P9S arrived today coincidentally at the same time as two magazines I ordered for it! Hoping to get some range time with it this weekend.

You will love it. they are highly accurate and easy to shoot.
They are excellent. Smooth shooting and accurate…. it takes a little bit to get used to the thumb cock/decock so practice is the key. ** YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW IT, BUT MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE BUFFER IN THAT PISTOL BEFORE YOU FIRE IT. THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WITH THE P9S.**
They are truly one of Heckler and Kochs masterpieces…just something about the tiny rollerlock bolt that makes you warm and fuzzy lol.
Congratulations and enjoy that classic.

I did NOT know to check that. Thank you for the information!

If you need advice on the change out and what not, sound off, I can help .
I’ve done several dozen of them over the years . They can be a real PITA.😉
Excellent acquisition. Very cool pistol. Heed corporal jj's advice here, doing otherwise can result in damage.

How can you tell if a buffer is bad or not?
How can you tell if a buffer is bad or not?
First, you have to disassemble the pistol and remove the buffer retaining housing. If the buffer is rubbery, you’re good to go if it is like Wrigleys chewing gum, squishy, and gummy it’s junk. It may be cracked up and crumbled into a million pieces as well , hard to say until getting it out…I recommend replacing it anyway. Buffers are cheap. I think the last ones I got were $19 .
I would be remiss if I didn’t recommend James at TEUFELSHUND TACTICAL for all things HK PISTOL. If you have mechanical problems with it parts are scarce but he can fix it up.

I removed the buffer housing to look at it and the buffer is hard and there aren’t any chunks of anything in there. I poked at it pretty hard with a screwdriver and it did not dig into the buffer at all. Would I be able to feel the buffer doing anything if I racked the slide back really hard?
Replace it.

IT IS BAD. Should be rubbery. Not hard, not gummy. Definitely needs replaced.
You would not be able to feel anything regarding the buffer by racking the slide really hard 😉 the only way to find out whether it is serviceable or not is by doing exactly what you did ,dismantling it and physically checking it.
Glad you didn’t fire it in that condition👍🏻

Me too. I would hate to have damaged something. I imagine parts are hard to come by for these!
