Ordered this 922(r) sear for my SP5 SBR. In addition to the 'USA' marking, it also has what appears to be an 'Hk' in a circle. Thoughts on what this marking is?
Neither design nor method match anything HK Germany puts on gun parts today.an authentic HK proof mark
Yes that is an old mark. I have an HK 300 made in 1975 that has that mark on it…I have seen the HK circle mark Some old parts are stamped with that.
Great! Thanks for the pic. Was afraid I was senile to remember it correctly.Yes that is an old mark. I have an HK 300 made in 1975 that has that mark on it… View attachment 334190
Specifically, it is stamped on the action just ahead of the serial number on the portside. there are no date codes on these old 300s they have to be dated by their serial number. I always thought that stamp represented something in the way of date coding but I’ve never found any evidence to support that.Great! Thanks for the pic. Or it simply it's been proved by the HK proof house? Like it's early proof mark?Specifically, it is stamped on the action just ahead of the serial number on the portside. there are no date codes on these old 300s they have to be dated by their serial number. Serial no. on this HK300 is 6xxx.
I considered that too. I’ve just never gotten any more information on it from anywhere. If it was a proof mark I would think it would be on the barrel and not on the action or on both.Or it simply it's been proved by the HK proof house? Like it's early proof mark?
Then the last guess is it's just a proof that it's a HK genuine part lol. But then why it is not on every part of the gun...I considered that too. Have a look at the mark in the provided pictures and the picture above. Then the last guess is it's just a proof that it's a HK genuine part
Yes those are rolled marks that are actually on the weapons …on the part it is hand punched but it is conspicuously the same shape , size and everything and it would be very difficult to roll mark a part like that. I’m not so much interested in how the part was actually marked but interested in the mark itself appearing on the older HK’s up to 40+ years old and now finding it on these contemporary parts it’s just an interesting mystery…Have a look at the mark in the provided pictures and the picture above.
The HK ones are rolled(?) and clearly discernible, the one on the part in question seems to be unevenly applied by a hammer and punch.
Not sure if that's the same.
