My riding jacket has a pistol pocket built into it with a lanyard attachement point. I'd like to carry a pistol in there but also with some sort or retention system. Any advice on a company that makes some tough lanyards?

Thanks much,

Billy

I use the GemTech. Not really sure why I need one, but I figure it has the lanyard loop so why not use it? The Gemtech gets threaded through your lanyard loop in in the butt of the pistol, and then it is buckled to an included buckle that you put on your belt. Pretty simple and this brand seems to be the one that is used professionally.

The GemTech lanyard has a feature that many other lanyards do not: they breakaway once a sufficient amount of pull is exerted.

The safety that this provides is that in the event of entanglement the leash would snap after a time.

I work on and around the water, and consider this critical, since an entanglement in the water could cost you your life.
