I bought a V1 USPc a while back and just got around to putting in the LEM kit. I got all the way to the last step and couldn't for the life of me put in the trigger return spring. I contemplated sending it back to H&K, but then decided to go with a local gunsmith. I showed him the springs I wanted to put in to get the lightest trigger pull and shortest reset. I played with all three TRS' and decided the original one was the lightest (this may not be true) I gave him the shortest hammer spring that came in the kit. A few weeks later I get it back and the gun starts making soft strikes. I put in the next biggest hammer spring (the one that came with the gun, stock) and the soft strikes went away. Now the trigger pull is much lighter, and I'm very happy with that, but the reset is still pretty long. Should I have used the light TRS that came in the LEM kit? It seemed like it was a little bit more stiff than the stock spring (the non black one).

Also my slide is no longer locking back at the end of the mag. Now, normally folks would say I'm riding the slide release, but this never happened with the V1. Maybe my thumb is taking up all that new space... but my magazine followers now have little notches from the part of the slide that catches that little corner of the mag where it meets with the slide release. Is it my mag springs? Maybe my recoil spring? Do I need another Firing pin block/spring? This is a 2010 date code USPc. I have a little over 1000 rounds through the gun, and I'm still sort of a novice shooter. The long reset still makes it hard for me to ride the trigger for fast double taps, but maybe I'm just still learning.

I just don't want to have to have the TRS switched out again. Since I did not have tiny pliers and a dental pick with the right kind of hook on it, I ended up paying a smith $30 to put in a spring I did not have to take out.

The reset can't be adjusted through the simple changing of springs. From what I have heard on here, the reset on the LEM is just slightly longer than the reset on the DA/SA. If you want the reset shortened, Gray Guns can shorten it with their Reduced Reset Carry Perfection package LINK/. The longer V1 hammer spring that you had from the get go is the lightest spring of the stock ones. It is very odd that the one the came in the kit (the heavy spring) gave you light strikes, but since it makes the pull heavier and that isn't what you were looking for it's a non-issue. If you are sure (100% sure) that you aren't riding the slide release then you may need to change your mag springs. It seems more likely to me since you never had this issue before you changed to LEM that your grip is ever slightly different and you are now riding the release. The easiest way to tell is to pay attention the next time you go to the range and count your shots. When you get to the last round: stop, look at your grip and ensure you aren't touching the slide release lever, then (without adjusting your grip) fire the last round. If you are still having issues after that I would start with the mag springs.

The shorter hammer spring in the LEM kit is for the HK45c only and that's why you had light strikes. If you want the lightest trigger pull, keep the original TRS and hammer springs. I don't know where you got the LEM kit from, but if you bought it from HKParts, then there should be 2 TRS's, one heavy (standard) and one light. You don't need any of them as your original TRS is already the light TRS. The heavy TRS is the square spring.

Yes, I now know that the shortest one was for the 45c. I just wanted to make sure about the TRS, because I saw a post in another thread saying that the black TRS from the kit (I did get it from HKparts) actually has a shorter reset than that stock TRS...but hopefully that isn't really the case. Ive seen more posts on here in different threads telling people to retain the stock TRS and hammer spring for the shortest pull/reset like you say. I also think the absence of the safety lever is whats making me put my thumb on the slide release... my buddy who's a LEO (and a much better shot) tried it too, and did the same thing, but he carries a G22, he never has to worry about hitting the slide release. I guess I just need to modify my grip.

Thanks for the help and quick replies, guys, I really appreciate it!
