In early 2003, I picked up a P7 to replace the one my ex-wife sold for pennies on the dollar. This one was hard chromed supposedly by the factory as part of a factory refurbish. There are no importer markings that I can detect.

I thought the importers name, city & state was supposed to be engraved on the pistol.

The only thing engraved on the right side of the pistol is the S/N, followed by "BMI 12/83" followed by a symbol with a 415 at the bottom.

Can anybody give some background on this gem?

That's a police trade in. They didn't always have import marks. For instance, if you wanted to import a pistol from Germany yourself, not for resale, and not go through an importer, you wouldn't have to mark the pistol. Finish looks nice, regardless of where it came from, but most likely was refinished before being resold.

The officer who carried this pistol didn't fire it much. The bore is immaculate.

That makes sense. I bought it at the Washington Arms Collector's show in Puyallup, WA.

I have a P7 that was imported by PW Arms as well. After being hard chromed by Tripp, it is hard to read - but it's there.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to know if these PW Arms P7's are PSP's or are they P7's? Mine has the wide/flush European mag release.

It is a PSP which is a P7 but not M8. The M8 had the thumb mag release and larger trigger guard with a heat shield in the top of the trigger guard.

It is a regular P7, if it was an early PSP it would be engraved on the slide from the factory.

HK USA people refer the earlier P7 as the PSP to distinguish it from the P7 M8, but I don't believe that the factory ever changed the designation.

I like the finish, looks like a matte finish.
