I had a trigger/accuracy job done on my gun... after receiving it, I had to send it back because the hammer would not stay cocked after firing a shot or chambering a round. It would fail to stay cocked enough that I pretty much quit using the pistol. After receiving it back the second time and the problem still being there, I gave up on the gunsmith.

It was for comp, not CCW by the way.

I am looking for some help with identifying the parts that may be causing the problem, finding a price/supplier for said parts and info on installing them.

I appreciate any and all help in this.

Thanks!

Apollo/majohnson,

I thought about posting on the forum the name but would rather respond to PM's.

I have contemplated sending it back to HK but I guess I was hoping for a quicker/cheaper route from somebody with a working knowledge of the gun and it's trigger mechanics.

I'm being cheap...tryin to save for the HK45ct.

TGS,

I don't mind telling people, they are just gonna have to take the extra step to PM me. Everybody and any company is bound to make mistakes. I don't believe I need to post a name for everybody to see for all eternity. I will respond to a PM, with the understanding that, that is where it stop. No public posting. That's how I will get the word out...with a clear conscience.

Bottom line is that I had just heard so many good things and took the chance. I knew going in there was a chance it could turn out this way. Oh, well. All in all, a cheap learning experience. I would never, ever...ever recommend a trigger job on my/any CCW weapon.

TGS,

To me, it's more of the legal ramifications of having a worked trigger on a gun that I may have to take a life with. I don't plan on giving the prosecution any ammo...IF it ever came to that. Its the same reason I don't carry reloads for self defense.

Just my opinion...to those that choose to, more power to em. America is all about personal choices...

The smith is going to send me the part he thinks is the problem with directions to install. I'm cool with this because the best case is that it fixes the problem 100% and get me more familiar with my pistol. Worst case is that I send HK a box of parts because I can't figure how to put her back together again...maybe it'll be cheaper by saving them some breakdown time!

Remember, the gun still went bang every time I pulled the trigger. The hammer would fall to the firing pin block when it did fall on its own. As a comp gun, it was just rather disconcerting to expect a SA pull and it be a DA pull. Didn't help my time nor accuracy score a bit.

I appreciate the support of the few that agree about not mentioning the smiths name publicly. Thank you.

Hopefully I'll get the part in a couple days and have a range test by the 5th.

Everything is reliable...till it breaks that first time. After getting it repaired, is it reliable again? Or not?

I have 3 more HK's to keep me occupied till my P30L is 100% again.

***Update***

I received a new decocker from the 'Smith. I figured out how to install it...I think...and it seems to run fine through racking the slide. I will try live fire this weekend and see how it holds up.

I didn't notice any difference between the old and new parts but I was in a hurry to get my baby fixed and didn't look real hard.

I ran 105 rounds through the pistol yesterday and it ran flawlessly. Great start but I'll put another 900 rounds through it before I take it to a comp again.

Bentonville, thanks for the PM...

I think I'm just going to rely on experience and round count for a trigger job.

What I am finding as rather surprising is the number of negative 'Smith work being done on guns of members here on the Forum.

Kinda makes ya wonder...

GT, I'm gonna write that 100 times so I don't forget...

TGS, FWIW there is not that much negative feedback on the Forums.

I think it is human nature to want to make something "yours" if not better. Otherwise there would no aftermarket parts or mods for anythings...cars, guns, atv's etc etc.
