New indents on MP5 collapsible stock?

1715 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  AviatorDave
I have a new german HK "F" style A3 collapsible stock for my MP5. Bought it because the A2 is too long for my son. Whadya know, it only locks in two positions, full open and full closed.

I would like to machine another set of indents on the rails so it locks in place halfway. The full open and full closed indents are readily seen on the rails.

I can get a local machine shop to do it, my questions are: has anybody done this before? Anything I have not thought of that might not get it to work the way I want?

Thank you for your help.

I have heard of someone else here doing that with good results. Just measure twice and cut once!
There's really not much to it - just cut a notch in each side similar to the width of the factory notches. Yes, it's definitely been done before. Just be sure there are no burrs left that will scratch the receiver when you open and close it.
Yes, it has been done, and IIRC worked perfectly.

I think it was Ghilliebear2000 that did it... not 100% sure on that.

I'm pretty sure you are correct.
