New purchase HK P30s 9MM V3

Hi all,

I just made a new purchase today. An HK P30s V3!!!! This is my second HK purchase. Interestingly, my first handgun purchase back in 1999 was an HK USP Tactical .45. I finally have a little sister for her! The .45 probably wasn't the best choice for a first handgun but since then I have filled in the collection with many other calibers. The Tactical has been flawless since day one and still looks as good as new even after years of use. This last pistol was a difficult choice but I think I made a good one!

Thanks all! I have been thinking about another HK for a very long time! This was very tough choice as I wanted something compact but still comfortable to shoot. I also looked at the XDM 9MM Compact and the S&W M&P Compact. The Smith was a little too small and the XDM didn't feel as good in the hand as the HK.

Only downside on this particular gun is that it is a restricted capacity model so I will have to order some 15 round magazines.

I will post pictures of the P30s and it's big sister tomorrow.

Nothing feels as good in the hand like an H&K!!
Congratualtions on the acquisition!!!

You made an EXCELLENT choice! I completely trust my P30 to get the job done, which is a great feeling.

Congrats on that P30!
Hi everyone,

So I got a chance to take the P30s to the range today. First I took the gun apart and removed the factory grease and re-lubed it with Slip 2000. I brought about 125 rounds of Winchester white box 124 grain NATO ammo. The range closest to my house (about 2 miles away) is 25 yards only. I knew this would be challenging with a new gun but I didn't have time to go to another range where I could shoot at closer targets.

So here are some overall impressions. Fit and finish is normal HK high quality. I set the gun up with the small blackstrap and medium side straps. I can easily reach all of the controls. I like the decocker but still need to get used to the location. I also love the magazine release as I can drop the magazine with my trigger finger. The only thing that I found remotely difficult was the thumb safety. With a shooting grip I could easily disengage the safety, however engaging requires too much force. Maybe this will loosen up with time.

So on to the shooting. I shot everything in single action. The trigger has some pre travel but once that is taken up it breaks cleanly. I still have to get used to the trigger as I have been shooting single action 1911's lately. At first I was all over the place. After I got accustomed to things I found that all my shots were going low and left. I started aiming on the left edge of the target and shots started hitting in the middle of the target. I am not sure if my sights need adjustment or if I still need work on the trigger. I will be happier once I start shooting better groups!

I will take some pictures and post later tonight!

Looking forward to the pictures, I've been considering a P30 myself.

Congrats on a great weapon! I love my P30 V3. Mine is not an "s" as I came to HK from Sigs primarily and am not a fan of/accustomed to safeties. I have some experience with 1911s, but really didn't like having a safety to worry about. I was having a similar problem with my P30 when I first got it (low and left), and the part of it that was notdue to the shooter (remedied by range time) was improved by going all large on the panels. With the ergos of the P30, even though I have medium-sized hands, I am still able to comfortably reach the trigger and deliver a clean and accurate DA shot. Enjoy!

Hi all,

Okay here we go!

First we have a picture of my new P30S V3.

Next we have a picture of my HK Tactical .45 and the P30S

Finally here is a picture of my target shooting the P30s at 25 yards. I am not at all pleased with the grouping. Everything is going left and low. I did do a little better when I put the sights on the right side of the bullseye. At this point I am not sure if it is the sights or me. Good chance it is me as I am still not used to the trigger after shooting 1911 type pistols for a while. I will keep practicing with this weapon before considering any changes.
