HI everyone I wanted to introduce myself first im Ross.

I just purchased an waiting on delivery of my MP-5 SD HK Walther 22lr

This is my first 22lr and its also my first rifle I have always been into handguns and mostly Glocks.

I just purchased this MP5 Rail mount so that I can get a nice optic to put on it https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002TTI7C8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1C3AEKQFQ823R

I was reading the reviews, and it surprises me that parts that were made for airsoft are also compatible with an MP5 22lr
I see that this is the only rail mount area that can go on since its the SD model from what I have read there is nowhere near the front end of the barrel to attach a light, so all I have is this top rail mount for attachments is this correct form my understanding?

I don't want to go spending 100 dollars on a Optics or sight will probably upgrade in 5 or 6 months to something nicer but wondering what scope or optics would you suggest to me for this being my fist rifle that will hold up and work correctly?
I have read some info on the AImPro and Red Dot. However I would like to hear from others with the MP5 SD, i don't want to have to cut away the front sight I'd like to keep the stock parts intact but add a nice optics to it.

I noticed no one has replied but several have opened up and viewed this.

I don't want to be a jerk or anyting so please don't take this as me being impatient or being a jerk or anything like that.

But this is my first MP-5-SD and my first Clone of any firearm. So i am not sure i just want to make sure im doing things wright getting parts that are good but also not looking to break the bank
maybe in a few years i will be able to spent several thousand dollars and get a real MP5sd 9m clone but for now i am hoping some can help me iwth the 22lr and what optics or scopes work well for them

Congrats on your HK Clone. I have the same exact model, the SD and I absolutely love it. I cant say enough good things about it.

Unfortunately these guns aren't too popular around here, as a matter of fact there isn't a dedicated forum anywhere for these HK/Walther MP5's. I really wish they'd make a bespoke forum for our .22 clones. Needless to say replies to these threads will be far and few inbetween.

This is the Red dot sight I use.

Nevermind the fact that its an NCStar, its a fantastic red dot for the money. And since you don't need a claw mount to mount it, it co-witnesses with the iron sights perfectly.

Unfortunately the only way to attach a light/laser to the front of the gun is either:

This

or this.

HoldanCaulfield Thank you for the reply. I aprrecaited it very mouch. I got the call today and as soon as they called to tell me that it had arrived i got in the car and drove over tthe shop and picked it up went right to the range and fired off 100 round of cheap ammo picked up at sportamnwarehous for 7.99 didn't have one problem

The links in the post that you posted didn't work however with reading the links i was able to search for the parts and found what you had sent the links to.

I also did some more searching and found a few things that i think might work also do you have an opinion on these
also do i need to get the rail to be able ot mount them on ?

https://www.amazon.com/Walther-Reti...&qid=1476921909&sr=1-1&keywords=walther+scope

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H735BFG?psc=1

this one i light because it has a laser build on so thats 2 bird with one stone but this is more optics and not scope so would i be acurate in saying htis owuld be better if i where a lazy person ?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YAO9NAU?th=1

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B2FI3VY?psc=1 this one i am leaning towards also i like the scope style with the light attachd to it.

would i have to remove the front sight and and the back site that come with the MP5 to be able to sue this it hink i when looking closely at it they are removable. and this any of these options i linke dabove i would not need a raile with them because they clamp right onto the top of the gun whre a rail would go is that correct ?

There is maybe 1 or 2 red dot sights that will co-witness with iron sights on the market, that attach to a claw type rail. What I'm saying is I guarantee all of those scopes/red dot sights you linked will sit well above the iron sights, so no you wont need to remove the iron sights at all.

Awesome thank you. I just don't want to go spending money on something that won't work even though with amazon i can get free returns through prime i just don't want to by something thats not going to work out at all and have to waste more time.

out of the ones that i linked to do you think any of them are better than the other ?

Glad to see you getting some help. I would have responded but all my .22s are Ruger 10/22s. Well I have a few others but not really worth mentioning.

Don't take the lack of interest personal. You need to understand that the GSG and Walther rifles are kind of like mopeds (google that if you're too young to get the reference). And you just came into a motorcycle forum, went straight into a long established section, and spent your first post describing your new love and happiness about getting your first new moped. Now granted, at least it wasn't just a bicycle (aka air soft), but you can't expect the old farts to get all in a hurry to talk about the mopeds they secretly keep in their garages and only ride at night. Cause ya'know, a moped is like a fat girl; they're both fun to ride until your friends see you on one.

Well that's what I hear anyway.

But i am thinking maybe by next summer i will be able to spend the real money on a 9mm mp-5 clone

Most of the scopes you linked are junk, frankly. Check out how many 1 star reviews they have. I wouldn't get anywhere near those,

Here are a few I found that I would recommend:

https://www.amazon.com/TacFire-2-5-...8&qid=1476939104&sr=8-6&keywords=2.5x10+scope

https://www.amazon.com/Tworld-2-5-1...01G0OCIPY/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Cool thank you so much for the help here
i just ordered the Tworld 2050 10x40

and i don't need a rail with this is that correct ? it will clamp directly on or will i need a rail to be able to not have a issue with the Front Sight and this scope ?

I would get one of the Bushnell TRS-25's or one of the Primary Arms Micro Dot red dot sights. I wouldn't bother with any of the el cheapo sights. The Bushnell and the Primary arms have been proven reliable on centerfire weapons. Primary Arms has the Bushnell TRS-25 on sale for $59 currently. Bushnell Trophy TRS25 1x25mm Red Dot Sight - 3 MOA

I got this one here
https://www.amazon.com/Tworld-2-5-1...top?ie=UTF8&tag=vs-outdoors-convert-amazon-20

i read the reviews they where good and i also asked a friend about it he said it looks like the same one he has and hes happy with it stays zeroed in he said
