Congratulations! If that is your first, then you did good. Go ahead and get the costly one out of the way. Oh never mind we're talking about HKs here, they're all costly. I got a 93 last month and I love it like I knew that I would. Good thing for me is I already had several mags to support my V93. This really goes without saying, but you should probably be looking at the SP5K if your not already.

Congrats and yes you can use either ammo in your rifle.

Most HK93s that made it into the US will be marked Cal. .223. This was a stamp for the US market. They actually prefer a NATO 5.56 round instead. Pull off your lower hand guard and see what is stamped on the bottom of the barrel. Most are 1/12 twist but on later model HK93s the bottom of the barrel will be stamped 178 which denotes a 1/7 twist barrel.
