Thank you all guys.

Having never owned or shot smaller caliber pistols what do you think of this purchase? Is .45 too much for a first timer? Or is it just a matter of getting used to it?
Not really, .45 was my first calibur and everyone was like "don't you wanna start with a nine?" As long as you know how to hold it you'll be fine.

I don't think you'll have any issues with the USP, it's not a 1" barreled 1911.
