have been an avid shooter for 27 years now, spent some time in private security. Just bought my first HK45, this is my first polymere pistol, I know the reputation this pistol has for reliability but was suprised when I fieldstripped the pistol to find only four steel rails, are these rails replaceable if need be? And found fieldstripping and reassembly of this pistol to be a little difficult copared to my other pistols, also not sure i put it back together correctly, does the recoil guide rod is it supose to fit or interlock with the barrel?

Welcome to the Forums - Yes this is normal to have 4 rails - they are not replaceable as far as I have heard no one has had problems with them unless it was damaged by another source like hammer - dropping , ect.

I love it. I decided to get one when I found a brand new one for 1800. Used ones sell for slightly less or slightly more than I paid at times. It shoots great, recoil is very mild. I've never had an issue with it. People complain about the size, and while the gun is long, it's grip is comparable to a USP 45. All of the controls are very accessible for me, and my hands are average size. I thoroughly enjoy it and don't regret getting one, if only to say that I have one. If you get one, shoot it, don't let it be a safe queen.

Hi, and welcome, if you want a Mark 23 you can also find them here, Cross Creek Guns. He is a member, which i like to support our "locals" first. Look for the "WTS H&K handguns thread" started by lahilljack. $1839.00 shipped!!! He is absolutely fantastic to deal with and I'm sure plenty of others will tell you the same. Just my .02¢

Thank you, will check it out, is it true HK is fading the Mark23 out, I heard once the stock that HK has sells out that's it they are not going to produce it anymore. Can anyone verifi this.

Thanks again, I think I have to get me one , seeing as they are being discontinued, it would be like investing in a peice of history. There I just justified spending eighteen hundred bucks, that was easy. let ya know when I get it. And im sure I will be spending many a night on the couch or in the garage. It will be worth it I think. Ya.

I pretty much had a PowerPoint presentation ready for my wife explaining the pros and cons. She was actually very receptive and agreed, but she now wants a new DSLR to replace her old one (which is less than 2 years old).

That is a beautiful sight. Thanks for sharing the pic, I have an appointment with a gunbroker friend of my Dads on Monday 4/16/12 to place order and put down a deposit. I just have to have one before they are all gone. After that purchase I must refrain from any other purchases for some unforseeable time im sure. Besides that I am broke and in deep trouble for spending all of the rainy day funds, My response was I couldnt help it, it just started pouring out.
