New VP9 owner

I just purchased a VP9T today, and I have two questions:

After reassembling with slide locked back, the takedown is really hard to rotate back into place and after unlocking the slide, the trigger is really stiff on the first pull. After pulling the trigger, it works smooth. Is that an HK thing, a new firearm thing, or a problem? My second question might be a dumb one but even when its not cocked, I can still pull the trigger, is that okay? The reason why I ask is because I'm new to handguns and my only other experience is my FNS 9c and you cannot pull the trigger unless its cocked and the takedown lever is really easy to rotate back into place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
