Just bought a nib p2000 .40 I love everything about it. But I noticed on the finish on the slide when I was looking at it under a bright light, there is what looks like discoloration all over the slide. But looking at it under normal light you cannot see any discoloration. Is this normal?

Without actually seeing it it's hard to say but my my guess would be that you're seeing oil.

I have a couple that look like that. I tried to clean them up with CLP but that didn't help. I think it's caused by sweat or lotion when someone handled the gun but didn't wipe it off before storing the gun away or putting it back on display. Just put some gun oil and wipe it off lightly (or use a silicon cloth). That should help hide the "discoloration".
I tried some clp already, and it dosent realy make a diffrence. But like I said you cant even see it under normal light. It's not rust. Just never noticed this form of discoloration in splochs on diffrent parts of the slide... I'll just shoot on.
Keep HK's away from water and bright light!

Or is that Gremlins ?
Haha! I believe that is gremlins, but its been no where near water.
Have we shot the gun, yet? What's next, microscopic analysis? Sorry, couldn't resist.
Yes, I have shot the gun, shooting amazing, just noticed that on the finish...n only if I had a microscope lol.
try a silicone rag. . . oils from your hand can easily discolor the slide... CLP won't shine it up and even it out like silicone will.

I keep throwing water on them. They don't multiply......

As far as this discoloration issue....
If you can't see a problem with the back side of the front sight then you're good to go. Best way to handle the finish problem it with a holster. A few hundred presentations and you're finish irregularity will buff right out.
