P30 .40 & 9mm Breech face differences?

1278 Views 9 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  amstaffHK
I don't have a .40 nor do I shoot .40 but I was wondering if there are any difference between the 9mm and .40s&w other than the mags & barrels. Is the barrel outside diameter different on the .40?

This is just morbid curiosity.

Not much other than the diameter of the muzzle opening on the slide. You can buy after market barrels that are bigger in diameter to compensate for this to make a conversion from .40 to 9mm on most HK pistols.
Can you go from 9mm to .40?

Negative, the muzzle hole on the slide would be too small and an aftermarket barrel would have to be made dangerously thin and I doubt anyone is willing to do that, just not safe.

No.

The breech face of the 9mm is only wide enough for a 9mm casing. The .40 is wider.
That's why I asked if the breech face was different, lol.
And the extractors are more flexible, too!
