P30 grip changes

Hey guys, a friend of mine bought a used P30 for a GREAT price. Anyway, he has huge hands and wants to change the back strap and side panels so as to fit his hands better. The gun has a small back strap that is loose and moves around right now. I know my VP9 came with medium, so he thinks the P30 came with medium, and the previous owner changed it to small. He is worried about changing it again and it being even looser than it is. Has anyone had issues with the back straps being loose and how/if did you fix the issue. No problems with my VP9, so I have no personal info to help him. Told him I would ask on the forum.

Thanks

he could buy a new pin, that would help
but some straps fit slightly looser than others, so if he changes it, the problem may go away
They also come with a Large backstrap. Make sure the grip panels are mounted correctly. There are grooves on the back of the grip panels that must align properly with the spines on the grip itself.
Definitely change the strap and the pin as a first step. That will give your buddy the chance to ensure it was installed properly. That will likely correct the problem.
With the P30, nearly all small backstraps will shift/click much more than the medium or large likely due to the reduced polymer reinforcement and how it mates to the frame.

It IS THE BACKSTRAP, not the PIN

The top of the VP9/40 backstrap has a semi-circle design on the top which allows it to kinda lock in better to the frame where the P30 backstrap has a horizontal top, which is why it moves excessively and even shifts slightly from left to right. A temporary fix is to remove the small backstrap and squeeze it very hard in your palm to where the backstrap rails will fit tighter to the frame . Other because use superglue, allow it to dry and shave it off accordingly to fill the gap better.

This was one of my gripes of the P30 and why I appreciate the VP's changes with backstrap. You can call HK and request a replacement back-strap, they should send it out for free, but I believe that they all rattle/click/shift to some degree, especially the small ones.
Interesting Scg, first I've heard of this. It shouldn't shift or click while shooting the gun right? I'd like to hear more since i have medium to small size hands.
