The P30 is a nice gun, but its a little long in the grip for ideal concealed carry, but has a shorter sight radius/mediocre trigger, so I don't find it excels at anything in particular. I prefer the USPC for carry, and the USPF/Expert for target work/competition, so I haven't quite found an ideal niche for the P30.

The HK45 on the other hand is a solid, full sized fighting pistol. I also like that the 10 round magazines, while relatively low capacity by industry standards, will likely always be safe from any future legislation. The HK45 seems like the perfect "forever" gun, especially when coupled with something like a P2000SK for similar reasons.

Whichever you have the most ammo for....
That is good advice.

Buying a pistol because its low capacity magazines will be "safe from future legislation" is about the most sniveling shlt I've read on the internet, and is disturbing to hear from Americans.

I have many many guns that check just about every box on the "liberal gun-hate checklist of scary features", but I do think there's something to be said for having a couple old standbys that are pretty safe from gun-grabbers. Not that I plan on complying with jack **** anyway ;)

Tough to say, I want to claim the HK45 is the better gun, but it has two things working against it:

1. 45 ACP, which reduces capacity, but also the HK45 has less capacity than most of the competition within the same caliber

2. I am one of those people that thinks the P30 has the best decocker ever (assuming you're going DA/SA) I dont like safeties on guns, so the HK45 decocker sucks for me.

I got into the P30 lineup because of how impressed I was with the hk45. I like the 45 in some ways more (especially the trigger it has), but I have found the P30 to be more of a "go to" for practical reasons

edit: just noticed you went with the p30. Ultimately, I agree with your choice.

1. “Most of the competition within the same caliber”? Really? Yes, there are some higher capacity guns, but not “most” 45’s.

2. For $15, the HK45 is easily converted to decocker-only. If you’re suffering with a safety, it’s unnecessary.

If it was up to me I’d say USP FS 45!!
But since you already have in mind two other great gums IMO I’d go with the P30.
I have a P30s in 40sw and absolutely love it !!
I’ll agree 100% with the rest of my brothas
You will be buying both. it is inevitable !!
