So I got a KF dated Sterling HK p7m8 (traded Sig P226 Elite). Well.. I pop open the box and there it sits all ugly and pretty at the same time haha. Anyway I notice the slide is starting to turn that ugly orangish/purplish plum color. While I'd love to have it all hardchromed with Nills (on the way) I think I wanna just keep it black for now.

So who would ya'll recommend I send it to, to get it refinished? I'm thinking that only the slide needs to be refinished.. this would be cheaper and easier to get done. I GUESS I could just get the slide hardchromed and have a nice two-tone look.

Maybe I should just save up some more cash and get Tripps to do a full hardchrome with brush flats and all the workings. I sure do love the look of the p7m8 with hard chrome, brushed flats, and Nills.

Hmmm what to do what to do.

Save your $ and send the gun to Tripps for the Hardchrome finish. They do amazing work with a very fast turn around time. The gun looks so much better in person then it does in pics on the web.

P7M8 Refinish

I had my P7M8 and magazines refinished by Arizona Response Systems a few years ago. All still look great! I've had several other guns done my Mark, too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Can you please post up a few pics of how it looks. I am curious to see how it looks.
Thanks

Just FYI...I have found these so far...recommendation for all on this list was provided from various sites:

http://www.robarguns.com/np3.htm (20% off special right now until Dec 31, 07...comes with teflon coating option and numerous technical mumbo-jumbo that sounds very convincing)

http://www.ccr-refinishing.com/hg.htm (very attractive pricing)

http://drakesgunworks.com/ (many praises so far and closest to original finish; great hardening and P7 is handled by HK certified P7 armorer)

http://www.trippresearch.com/osdoc/chrome.html (most recommended so far)

www.arizonaresponsesystems.com

http://www.fordsguns.com/index (numerous finish options available)

I have no affiliation with:

http://www.ccr-refinishing.com/hg.htm

But I will tell you that their Cera Hide House black is the tittays. I had them do my P229 in this and the finish is perfect. Sigs need to stay wet and that finish does indeed stay wet. Next to my other Sig (P239) I have to oil the slide maybe 10% as much. It's called a "self lubricating finish" and I can attest to the quality. I can't say enough good things about CCR. Mary is always easy to deal with as long as you are patient. I would call ahead and get an appointment scheduled because they are back logged. You make an appointment and don't send it in until that date. I have a friend who is a P7 collector and after seeing my 229, he has sent in every P7 he owns to them. Their prices are good already but if you are patient you can wait for them to have a sale, which they do several times a year.

My P2000sk arrived at my FFL this morning. I'm going to pick it up tonight, do a short range session, and I'm mailing it to CCR immediately since there is some finish wear on the slide due to holstering.

I'm as anal retentive about my guns as the worst guy out there and CCR is the only place I'd considering send my pieces to. They really are that good. Caveat emptor.....I know nothing of nickel plating, or anything else. I just researched, extensively, on black finishes so they are my #1 choice. CCR, I will say, does a ****e load of P7 refinishing so they are extremely familiar with the pistol.
