I'm kind of interested in one of these now for CCW. I currently only CCW a manurhin ppk in .32 (not ppk/s) due to the size because I don't need to dress around it and wear whatever i want. How much bigger is it overall vs the ppk?

If I was considering something similar to a PPK for EDC, this would pulled out of my safe..............

I'm a Walther guy, but IMHO the SIG P230/P232 is like a next level PPK.
The icing on the cake? The P230/P232 ACTUALLY operates properly with hollowpoint ammo

For clarity, the following image is NOT of my firearms...........

I always thought I wanted a PPK until I shot one... 😕. They're sharp, stingy, finnicky little f*ckers. I have stated elsewhere .380 is all over the board from insufferable to shoot in a blow-back to rimfire-level pleasant. You really gotta put in the time to test and experiment with your ammo/load choice more so than the token: "Just jam an HST or Gold Dot in it and call it a day".
Beretta 84 (or 81 if you wanna 32acp) or Sig 232 if you wanna get your quality mouse gun on.

At 33oz and change, the P7 weighs in at the same as an unloaded Beretta 92FS... The P7 doesn't carry as "small" as most assume it will.

For PPK sized choices in .380 I definitely prefer the Sig P232. I am familiar with an agency that actually used (about 150) as a BUG. They were remarkably issue free from a .380 from this era. I seem to remember a front sight coming off one/easy fix. They also had no issues with duty ammo. Many were not babied at all and showed it. Most weren’t shot more than 200 rounds/year but some were shot considerably more. They show the same qual course as the standard duty weapon. Scores were comparable. They quit carrying them over caliber logistics more than anything else about 10 years ago. IMO the shooting characteristics and reliability are ahead of the PPK but that is a much older classic design.
But since we are in HK world here,....get a much P7K3..much smaller than a P7.;)
Sarcasm-a K3 is an amazing collectible but kinda high drag for real carry IMO.

Good luck getting parts and mags for those Sig P230/232's as they are discontinued. Original mags if you can find them are $100+ each. And thats if you can find them at all. Parts and mags dried up a while ago.

There is also plenty of stuff on the web about the takedown level breaking on them as well. The P232 has quite a bit of MIM parts inside. The general consensus is the 230 is made better than the 232. No matter as both are discontinued.

I have a 42 year old PPK/S that shoots just fine if you use the right ammo with it. It doesnt like hollow points. That being said its a heavy little bugger and besides who wants to abuse a blued collectible gun.

If you want a PPK sized gun look at the S&W Shield/Plus or the P365.

If those probs are all over the web, it’s a good thing those 150 I know of personally didn’t know about them...lol.
I know of several guns that have none of the issues widely reported on the good ole web...including the VP/P320/M9 etc...pretty sure there are already reported problems with the HK micro which isn’t even released yet (sarcasm...maybe).
Anyhow, if you don’t like the S you should have plenty of money left to buy a PPK if you sell it...;)

IMHO, James Reeves did a good job of covering the pro/cons of the P230/P232 and PPK in this vid.......

Goes into the MIM parts (P232) and the 'choke' PPK issues.

I know a few PPK owners who would like to carry their PPK but don't trust it enough with HP ammo.

Even Walther themselves admitted {at Shot Show) the production is heading BACK to Germany in hopes of making it reliable. But, why do they know.

Walther should ditch the PPK production and produce a P5 replacement/update.

Interesting, atlhough I think Bond's P99 as least deserved an honorable mention. ;) It was a far more realistic choice for the Brosnan era forward, even today.

Like I said in an earlier post, I'm a Walther guy! 😄

Yet somehow I prefer to EDC a P7-M13.
Quite the conundrum. 🤔

Allow me to suggest the Sig 938. Wonderful accuracy, small as a PPK & comes with night sights. I use mine as a summer carry gun.

I always wanted a PPK .Bought one put about 400 rounds through it (all different kinds of ammo )and immediately sold it to a “James Bond freak” friend of mine. Just too temperamental.
I figured couldn’t go wrong -German engineering, longevity, reputation, but was just totally disappointed.
I am seriously thinking about trying to P99 just for sh*ts and giggles.

The PPK originates from ~a century ago and has had insufficient updates to handle some modern ammo.

The 1911 is at least as old but has had endless updates since the '80s.

The P99 is a great answer to the idea of a Walther carry gun with a Bond connection. He should have been using a P88 Compact when it first came out anyway, but those may have limitations with modern ammo as well. So the P99 is the first choice to be fully practical.

if you guys are basing your experience off a .380 ppk, don't.

the 7.65mm is the one to have. I shot it after carrying it in a jacket pocket for months and it was filled with lint etc and it worked flawless. its also super smooth, smoothest blowback i've ever shot. I haven't tried HP in it yet but i will.
