P7M8 sometimes fails to return to normal safe. The inner lever gets "caught"

I own many P7 variants. I've got a K3, 3 or 4 M8's, a PSP, another 3 or 4 M13's. I perform all the detail work on them that needs doing - within my skill set. I have broken all of these down to their component pieces, and reassembled without issues. One one particular M8, it wil occasionally bind somehow. When you squeeze the cocking lever and then release it, the outer lever works as expected. The inner lever, however, will sometimes bind or catch on something - I think it is binding on the right side of the pistol, but can't be sure. I have detail stripped two M8s side by side and cannot see any difference between the parts from the pistol that works and the one that ocassionally fails.

So, quick question: Have you ever had a P7 that when you release the outer cocking lever, the innerr lever stays "retracted"? If so, what did you do to fix it?

I have done multiple detail strips (down to individual parts) and carefully reassembled the guns. This issue stays with this gun.

Any ideas? I'm willing too send it to Teufulhund if that is what it'll take to get this resolved.

TIA,

Jax

Jax:
I suspect you did not get the leg of the cocking lever spring in the correct position on the drag lever (the inner lever behind the external cocking lever) or you damaged it during assembly. You must slide the slide the cocking lever up from the bottom upon assembly.
Also check that the grip panel is properly installed - that the front edge fits in under the slot provided in the frame. That can cause binding if installed properly.
There could also be damage to the firing pin bushing (bent) causing the firing pin to drag upon release. That is often first seen in the c/d lever release.

Thanks for the feedback G3Kurz. I will disassemble the unit after our next outing (this Sunday) and carefully check for the items you've mentioned. And then we'll see if my P7 gets to go on a road trip to James... :)

Thanks again,

Jax

P7s love to take 'the pilgrimage'. And every one of them deserves to.
