I posted this here cause I will be dealing with an HK clone soon and figured i would ask the other clone owners that have the answers.

Can you legally change a Pistol(i.e. CA89) into a rifle?

Can you legally change a Rifle(i.e. BW5) into a pistol?

Where are the laws for these questions located?

once a rifle it will always be a rifle. the only way to legally put a short barrel and stock on it is to register it as an SBR.

a pistol can have the short barrel, but not the stock without the SBR registration. the only way around this is to permanently attach a 16"+ barrel(or extension) then you can attach a stock. think mech-tech 16" barrel and stock assembly on a glock or 1911. it will still technically be a pistol, but wont look like it and with the extension being permanently installed, it wont happen to turn into an SBR.

I recently purchased a vector 33k (12"-ish barrel) as a pistol from a buddy that was thinking he was going to get a sear. his plans fell thru, and he than had an unwieldy pistol. I attached a 4" extension, and can use it as a rifle now.

OK, thanks for the help. I will have to look for a .40/10mm hk94 style pistol then.
