Problem reaasembling USP Compact .45 Need HELP!!!

824 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  TooSixy
I am trying to reaassemble my USP Compact .45 after a hammer swap(to regular thumb hammer) and I am screwed up. I swapped the hammer, now I am trying to reinstall the safety/decocking lever, but first you have to install the slide plate and spring, but they were under tension when I took it apart, now I can not get any tension on it at all. I am dropping the spring and plate,in the frame, but if I turn the frame upside down, it falls right out.I was stuck at this step on the dissembly after moving to the 12 oclock position, because I was not depressing this same piece, thats why I know it must be under tension, but I can not figure it out. I AM STUCK!!HELP PLEASE!!!!

1. Insert the slide plate + spring
2. Insert a punch into the little groove (in front of the slide plate) and depress on the slide plate and hold it down. Make sure the slide plate clears the hole where the safety lever goes.
3. Once the slide plate clears the hole, insert the safety lever
4. The safety lever will lock the slide plate in place
5. Insert the detent plate
