After some consideration, I have decided that my next HK acquisition will be a PSG1. Or more correctly, a PSG1 clone, as the last PSG1 I saw for sale was a wee bit pricey. ($42k!) I've read through a number of threads of people here who have done similar projects and they seem to take one of three routes to get a PSG1 clone:
At this point I'd like to hear from people who have done all three routes -or any other options I've missed- and have any insights about the good, the bad, and the ugly of what they did, and what they learned in the process.

- Buy a PTR 91 or C308 Sporter and go through a Do-It-Yourself rebuild it with a longer trunnion, barrel, trigger group, etc.
- Buy and collect the parts and do a DIY build from the ground up with an 80% receiver.
- Buy and collect the parts and have a specialty shop do the build.
At this point I'd like to hear from people who have done all three routes -or any other options I've missed- and have any insights about the good, the bad, and the ugly of what they did, and what they learned in the process.
