Hello,
I don't seem to get any hits on the Internet on this product and I was wondering if any of you can comment of it functionality of this extended mag release for the PTR91...

The seller is "bumnog" . I eBay messaged the seller and asked if he had any YouTube videos that can prove that his product functions as advertised but he said no. He also mentioned that he has sold "hundreds" to prove it functions. I was hoping that some members here was part of that "hundreds" and would let me know their thoughts on the product... ;)

PTR 91 Extened Mag Release Kit | eBay

Thanks in advance!

Looks like it would NOT work to me. His mention of a lighter spring would have me worrying about accidental mag drops as well.

Well the spring on my CA compliant PTR is pretty heavy to actuate so I am not against making it lighter and having slightly less resistance. Does it really need to have that much resistance? I guess it all depends on the qualities of the substituted spring. I plan to make my PTR featureless with a Kydex pistol grip wrap.

If you are going featureless then install a paddle mag release (as the rifle was originally equipped with) instead of this mickey mouse thing.

With the paddle mag release installed you will pretty much never use the button again.

The only way to install the paddle is to drill through one side and part way through the other, install parts, weld up the hole and refinish. Runs just under $200 from an HK specific gunsmith.

DO NOT drill through the far side or you have created a full auto rifle in the ATF's eyes and opened up a can of worms.

No drill option is to install the PTR specific Tac-Latch.

And it is worth the extra change to get the paddle with the spring (and possibly the Roller version) That spring seems to improve dropping the mag. Needless to say I highly recommend the paddle mag release. The ergonomics of it are superior to trying to use the button only or anyones attempts at an easier to install hack solution.

While I agree with your comment about the superior ergos on the HK paddle mag release, my buddy has the Tac-Latch and it isn't bad....as long as the shooter is right handed.

Hate to revive older threads, but OP: did you ever pick up this "extended button release"?

Also, i'm having an impossible time finding a PTR specific Tac latch. Looks as if HK pro has the HK91 tac latch in stock but the PTR spec one has been out of stock for several months now...

Thanks guys
