I have a PTR 91 with a 1913 rail welded to the receiver. I'm looking for a variable, inexpensive, illuminated, mil dot scope of less than 11.5 inches in length because of charging handle clearance that can also take the substantial recoil of the PTR?

I can't recommend a mil-dot scope for you, but I can advise you to steer clear of the slim 1-4 power scopes that are so popular right now. The eye piece will catch on the rear site even with high rings, forcing you to seat it back too far on the rifle. For most scopes you want the eye piece to line up with where the plastic and metal sections of the stock connect.

I really like primary arms 1-6 acss. But your going to have to run a riser and a cheek riser. I prefer a 1" see through with low rings. Then you still have open sights. Or extra hight see through rings. The riser is a more solid mount. Your best option is a fixed 4 with qd mount though.
