Could a MR556 barrel be reamed for 22 Nosler, fit with a 6.8 bolt and tuned by opening the gas block vent? That would be some project I tell ya. Thoughts from those far more knowledgeable than me?
AFAIK, the 22 Nosler uses the same bolt face as 5.56. The mags are different.
If I was inclined to do that, I'd just buy a blank and have a skilled smith chamber it and locate the gas port based on the original barrel and move the extension to it.
I would start undersize with the gas port. You can always go bigger but you can't go smaller.
Oh, rebated case, I missed that. I just assumed 6.8 since that is the mag to use.
.223 bolt. Plus the same powders for 77 gr and 69 gr bullets.
Good point about try different gas ports in the barrel. Now I wish I had a MR556 barrel extension...
