Good evening, I'm looking to find a new open carry side arm, I currently use my P7 and love it but with rain and sweat and humidity and anything else that could happen I want to get a new pistol (preferably H&K) that will hold up to all that with little to no maintenance, so in short what pistols are similar in size that people would recommend.
Thank you for your time,
Joe

Well I think a P30 or USP compact would be a wise choice. It depends on what caliber you want. You just need to go to your local gun store and feel out the different HK's. Its a hard question to answer until you get the guns in your hand.

I'll go try those at my LGS this week along with the p2000sk

The P2000 (not SK) is a great carry piece. It's not much bigger than the SK and you get a few more rounds.

I've got a bunch 9mm single stacks..

I really like the S&W 3913 for CCW, especially the ladysmith or NL version with the tapered dust-cover. Not close in accuracy to the P7, but good enough for a close range CCW. Zero maintenance with SS slide and alloy frame, plus parts are available.

I would suggest a P2000sk if you are wanting to stick with an HK. Call me crazy, but my main CCW is a G29sf honkin brick and It fits my hand perfectly. Plus, you just gotta love the 10mm.

I agree that refinishing your P7 with a more protective finish is a great way to go. It allows you to keep carrying a weapon you already enjoy and are proficient with and is cheaper than buying another weapon for the same purpose.

If you like the P7, take care of it and carry it. It's a very unique weapon, and nothing else out there compares to it.

The Kahr T9 is very similar to the P7 in many ways. Simple to use, 4" polygonal barrel, same weight, very close in size, slim profile, 8+1 capacity, nice trigger. The T9 isn't all that easy to find and be a little pricey ($700 or so), but it's a sweet pistol. There is also the lighter weight polyframed Kahr TP9 that has the same features.

Give the P2sk a hard look I love both of mine. They come with a duel recoil spring that makes recoil very light. Both of mine have the Lem trigger that I love all my H&Ks have the Lem.Just my .02 cents.
