So I've got an MP5 A3 stock (Long LOP) that I would like to get the end cap refinished and possibly a new rear fork/buttpad section installed at the same time. My go to typically is Ghillie but he said the stocks with the plastic locking mechanism basically once its apart its junk so he bowed out. I've had others tell me that people do indeed refinish these without issues.

That being said:

1. Does anyone know someone who does a good quality HK finish like job on the A3 stocks with the plastic locking mechanism?
2. Can I upgrade the plastic locking mechanism to metal on these units? I believe HK parts sells them.

I Cerakote and duracoat, the Hk duracoat black looks close to the receiver finish. I could paint it for you.

Michael's Machines refinished my beat-up A3 stock (newer style with plastic end cap and release lever) when he did my HK94 conversion - it looks as good as new now.
