Do rollers need to be checked or replaced every so many thousands of rounds ?

I believe that depends on whether / when the headspace is out of spec. Changing rollers will change the headspace (I think).
Yes rollers wear, but generally not that much. To check them you'll need some very accurate measuring tools.

Generally when I have to goto + rollers due to wear I'll measure the existing rollers when I remove them. If they are more than about 0.05-0.1 mm worn I'll discard them. Remember a +2 roller is 0.2 MM bigger than a standard roller.
So you check your headspace every couple of thousands of rounds? Or just keep an eye out for the problems that too much headspace can cause?
Are there specs on this stuff, like how often you check headspace?
well my MP5 will be brand shiney new , just didnt know if it was a wear item or what spare parts I might like to get

headspace will shrink as parts wear. check headspace on a new or new to you gun. check it again after a few hundred rounds of break in and you can tell at a glance if there is NO headspace as there will be no gap at all. it should take thousands of rounds to see any diff in headspace (key word SHOULD).

I check head space every case of ammo, or at the end of a day with a lot of shooting, sometimes its more than a case in a day.
Thanks guys, always wondered about that!
