Morning all! Have recently tasked myself with finding a suitable training/duty holster for my P30, which as anyone knows is not easy to find any holster for. I love Raven Concealment's stuff but they sit too high for my goal in this instance. That left me with Blade Tech and Safariland to choose from. I can't tell you what made me bypass Blade Tech's offerings, I guess I just knew more of Safariland. I knew I wanted a 1-2" drop, but not a thigh rig (I'm not THAT tactical
). I had also heard good things about their ALS retention system.
So I ordered the 6325 (the holster formerly known as 6395) from HolsterOps.com. Great website, easy to sort by pistol type, and they kept me updated via email of process steps. Start to finish, the process took about 2 weeks, as stated on their website.
After running through about a hour of drills last night, I really like this thing. Some key points:
-Not applicable to everyone, but the 2.25" drop attachment fits my 1.75" Cobra riggers belt with no shifting. I couldn't believe it. I think this is due to the fact that the Cobra belt is so thick.
-The ALS system works all the time, the way it should. It's easily activated when reholstering and manipulating the release lever is easy (but not too easy) while being natural.
-The 1.5" drop feels great. It's much easier for me to get a quick, positive grip that feels the same way each time.
-Suede lining is a nice touch in a world otherwise dominated by un-padded kydex.
-The holster provides many ledges on which to manipulate the slide one-handed.
Missing IFAK/dumper but here's the setup before:
And after. Love how much lower this orients the grip:
ALS lever to left of decocker
Suede lining
Nice fit! This spot also provides a nice ledge for one-handed manipulations.
-The only thing I don't like is that there's, IMO, a little too much material that can interfere with rotating the gun to target right after a draw. I wish they had taken a page from Blade Tech's playbook on this one and eliminated the material from the rear of the chamber to rear sight. OK maybe they can't do it to that extent given the ALS needs to lock in there. I might cut some out myself, I think I can do that without interfering with the ALS controls.
I'll update more after I get some more time with this.
Be safe,
Munch.
