Tonight I was handling several of my 45's and admittedly the one that felt the best and more natural was the XSE Commander followed by the SW1911SC. I love my USP-C 45 but when I put my hand around it, the index finger and thumb just barely meet. Short fingers and wider pistol grips are a curse. Wide to me, that is. It's no real problem but there is a definite difference it the way it feels over the 1911 grip. I can live with it if for no other reason I don't have to tweak or try different magazine/spring/follower combinations to get it to run. It's perfect as is right out of the box and the various rounds I've tried in it from first rack to last one in the magazine fired, it's as slick as Clinton. You can't argue with that. I wish the USP-C was just a little smaller in the grip but I know there's guys that have thumbs as long as my index finger and it's perfect for them.

I hear ya, this is why I started modifying my USP 9, I had it several years before I realized I was rolling my hand forward to reach the trigger. Not a problem with the match trigger for me.

I understand it , too. That's why I had to go to the HK45C. It fits my smallish hand perfectly, as does the P7 and the P2000. Don't forget the P30. They are all just as great as the USPC. I was amazed at how much better I shot with the HK45C than the USP45C. It's just me, I'm sure but still...short fingers + smaller grip = comfort and control.

Same here. Mine's a USPc9, and even the smaller dimensions are a bit too full for me. However, the pistol is so good that I'm beginning to get used to it. Even with a lower capacity, a slightly thinner grip would be welcome -- provided they change nothing else... BTW, one thing I would do away with regardless is the front trigger guard serrations; they are ugly and add nothing to the gun. I have yet to find somebody who uses the front trigger guard for holding this pistol. IMHO the USPc9 would look much better with a trigger guard like the USP full size, or the HK45 Compact, or even the P2000SK. Just my .02 worth.

For you guys with short fingers there is a solution. You take a long string tie one end to finger the other to a cinder block . Hold chest high let cinder block go off bridge into water below. Try to hold yourself back if and when the cinder block reaches bottom then cut string after ten minuets. Walah! Now you have very long finger or wet clothes or both.😁

If your "45s" are M1911s they probably have the long trigger in them. The Army discarded this trigger circa 1926 at the same time they added the arched mainspring housing. Both changes made for easier accurate shooting. The M1911A1 trigger is the "proper" trigger although it's so short it can't be purchased with fancy holes or other designer patterns in it. :wink:

DA triggers need more trigger movement to perform the cocking function. We're stuck with those mechanics. DA/SA triggers go into SA mode after the first shot. The trigger reset points on my HK45C-LEM, M1911, and M92G are all at the same length. (Visual inspection, not calipers!) The longer pull distance is only the DA first shot with the DA/SA Beretta. The HK45C would be the same distance except the LEM trigger effectively removes this long pull as the very light first stage or slack comes out of the trigger as soon as the pistol is out of the holster and pointing down range. It's there but gone by the time the sights align. With all three just release to reset and send a second round.

I don't have a problem reaching the trigger, it's the overall "girth" of the grip...sort of like a Glock G30-front to back width. I'm not complaining as it's a great pistol and one I haven't had to tweak. That alone is a monumental blessing. Still, if would be nice if the grip were about 1.4" less thick(for me anyway). It probably feels like a toy to guys with hands like a first baseman's glove. My first urologist had hands like that!!

I didn't need to have it done my fingers were the right size but not too long I have a large hand. I guess I am lucky. :440:
